Mentors

We are seeking professionals from a variety of industries who are willing to answer student questions and provide feedback or insight. Students may need occasional help with research or clarification, brainstorming, or networking with others who might help students further pursue their research.

Become a Mentor

Building a professional network is an essential part of helping our students in The Center succeed. As students embark on their academic journey through each grade level, their projects become more sophisticated and our network must grow beyond the classroom.

On an ongoing basis, we are developing and adding to our pool of advisers for the AP Research and Senior courses and assisting in matching students to a network of specialists.

We also have positions available where specialists work with students on campus for a few hours a week as they design and implement their research projects. If you or someone you know might be interested, please complete our interest form.

Thank you for assisting our students in their educational research process. Your expertise and guidance are invaluable!

We specifically need help in the areas in which our AP Research students will be conducting their research. The list of research projects will be published here.

New CVUSD Volunteer Requirements

Our district has implemented new volunteer requirements. Please know that this is a new process and as always is the case with new systems, there will be a period of fine-tuning. District personnel are completely aware that there is a vast difference between the volunteer needs of a high school and an elementary school. We are looking for ways to keep the process streamlined and not overly cumbersome, while at the same time ensuring that every student in the district is kept as safe as possible.

If you are mentoring a student virtually, the protocols above are not necessary. Note that if students are communicating with expert advisers via email, the teacher must be copied on all communications.

Interested in becoming a mentor?

Thank you for inquiring further about our students' research projects. We hope you find them intriguing enough that you are interested in offering your expertise either over email or maybe even coming on campus to mentor a student in our wet lab or our CoRE Innovation Lab.
